Winter Blues, Meet Floral Hues

Fall is a gorgeous time of year almost anywhere you go, but like all good things it doesn’t last long enough and winter’s chill sneaks in before we’re ready – which is why we like to get a head start on brightening our décor for the long season indoors.

There are lots of fun ways to do this, but a perennial favorite remains using floral patterns to add dazzle when the weather turns dismal. Flowers are bold and bright, and remind us that sunny days aren’t too far away, whether in our memories or in our futures.

But, where should you put them, and how many blooms are best for your décor bouquet?

Floral Wallpaper

Depending on the print, floral wallpaper is about as botanically aggressive as you can get. There are endless designs with any kind of flower you can imagine, so if you have a favorite there’s probably a print just for you.

Fortunately, there are many temporary or removable wallpaper options available, just in case you’re not sure how much flower power you need.

Floral Textiles

Blankets, throws, decorative pillows, rugs – again, there’s a flower for every style and look. Mix and match or go with a theme. It can be fun to arrange a whole new kind of garden using textiles.

Also, don’t forget about texture! The way your flowers feel can add further dimension to your design.

Faux Flowers

Why not real flowers? Well, because real flowers can be tough to keep alive, especially when the temperature starts to drop.

The key to making faux flowers look good is to play conservatively with your arrangement, and keep some distance between it and your guests to preserve the illusion.

Wall Art

Go with van Gogh or try something a little more understated; either way, flower art is beautiful and timeless. Choose a frame that complements your style and you can’t go wrong.

BONUS: Palm Fronds

Flowers are fantastic, but the rich color variation and style available in palm patterns cover the distance between muted exoticism and kitschy tropical whimsy.

Try using a single palm design for a hint of jungle adventure or a bright multi-palm pattern for an unmistakable island feel.

Have fun arranging your fall flowers for a season of color that will last all winter long.
