There are only two games left until we find out who will be suiting up in this year’s Super Bowl – do you know who’s going to go, and who’s going to win it all?
This Sunday, the Denver Broncos play the New England Patriots to decide the AFC champion and the NFC battle will promptly follow as the Seattle Seahawks greet their nemesis, the San Francisco 49ers. The surrounding hype is substantial, with the two most popular quarterbacks in the league facing off in Denver while pro football’s most vehement rivalry prepares for war in Seattle. Football fanatics can hardly wait, wondering which two will triumph and be on their way to Super Bowl Sunday!
AFC Winner: Broncos or Patriots?
In the very first game of the year Peyton Manning came straight out of the gate with guns blazing, throwing for seven touchdowns in a single game. His corral of receiving talent shined like a well-polished arsenal of sticky-fingered sentinels, and it didn’t take much to imagine his team finishing its season with stats piled Rocky Mountain high.
Manning’s momentum surged throughout the season, breaking records left and right, while the Patriots struggled to get things going without their tight-end gem, Rob Gronkowski. Pats persevered through many games based on narrowly captured wins, including the last time they squeaked by the Broncos in a 34-31 nail-biter.
One of the Patriot’s greatest strategies is to exploit their opponent's biggest strengths with double-manned coverage, but their defense has become frail with injuries. On the other side, however, the Bronco’s offense has artillery to spare and should be able to withstand the challenge.
When these two legendary quarterbacks share the field it’s always going to be anyone’s game, as neither talent can be underestimated and both have prevailed through playoffs before, but Manning has come too far this year to crash and burn now. He’s aiming for his next Super Bowl ring and this is Denver’s game to win.
Prediction: Denver Broncos
NFC Winner: Seahawks or 49ers?
It did not go well for the 49ers the last two times they visited Seattle. The Seahawks outscored the red and gold for a combined total of 55 points over the two games, only allowing San Fran to find a mere 16.
The noise – a thunderous contribution by Seattle’s “12th Man” – at CenturyLink Field is so deafening that visiting teams simply don’t play like they do elsewhere, at home or on the road. Any tremendous talent can get shaken off-kilter when that 12th Man is looming over, screaming its heart out and starting earthquakes that will literally shake the very ground.
Even though the noise is expected and the 49ers are trying to prepare accordingly, it will remain an unpredictable and hostile environment. While the Seahawks did lose once at home this year, there’s too much heat surrounding the upcoming match for them to let it happen again. So we say, Seahawks all the way – the champions of Super Bowl XLVIII!
