For those of you who may be preoccupied with thoughts of weekend DIY projects, visiting parents, kids’ soccer games and nightclubbing, let’s chat for a moment about what the rest of the cool kids are doing this Friday: looking for cute animals.
That’s right. Cute animals (and gravity, to some lesser degree) are what make the world go ‘round, and the best place to find them <em>is not</em> on your computer. It’s also not at the pet store … or the zoo. And your cat, while obviously cute, does not count.
The answer, of course, is the great outdoors. Mother Nature and her crew of cuddly critters are just on the other side of that wall and with a few basic supplies you can get out there and start exploring. The weather doesn’t really matter if you have the right gear, but assuming it’s nice out you can <a href="http://www.atgstores.com/camping-hiking_2368.html?linkloc=topnav" target="_blank">prep for a camping or hiking trip</a> with very little effort.
If you’re in for the full-on weekend cuteness quest and you’re not “roughing it” at the lodge, the basic things you’ll need are the following items:
<li><a href="http://www.atgstores.com/outdoor-packs-bags_3042.html?linkLoc=topnav" target="_blank">Backpack</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.atgstores.com/tents_2439.html?linkLoc=topnav" target="_blank">Tent</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.atgstores.com/sleeping-bags_3049.html?linkLoc=topnav" target="_blank">Sleeping bag</a></li>
<li>Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear</li>
<li><a href="http://www.atgstores.com/flashlights-headlamps_2470.html?linkLoc=topnav" target="_blank">Flashlight or headlamp</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.atgstores.com/emergency-survival-first-aid_3050.html?linkLoc=topnav" target="_blank">Safety kit</a></li>
<li>Water / Snacks</li>
It’s also good to remember that your smartphone may not have the required horsepower to capture cuteness in action in the wilderness. Unlike your favorite Internet meme, the real deal is likely to bob and weave better than a celebrity exiting a courthouse.
If you’re just thinking about a day hike you can drop the tent, bag, flashlight and (probably) the safety kit. Just make sure you keep your phone on you in case the cutest thing you ever saw has a mom with an appetite. You may also want to consider carrying a <a href="http://www.atgstores.com/compass-camping-hiking-instruments_2736.html?&option0=optionA=306958|20510~Valu&linkloc=catheader&gpid=1057274" target="_blank">compass</a> or <a href="http://www.atgstores.com/personal-locator-camping-hiking-instruments_2736.html?&option0=optionA=285696|20510~Valu&linkloc=catheader&gpid=907207">personal locater</a> in the event you drop your phone while running for your life.
Speaking of, we’d like to close with an earnest note on cute animals in the wild: <em>they are wild</em>. Real cute animals are known to be sassy and nippy at times, so let your camera take care of the close-ups. Also, if they really are babies that means there is a good chance its parents are in the area, and they are usually not nearly as cute as the smaller version.
Happy Friday from Mother Nature and <a href="http://www.atgstores.com/" target="_blank">ATGStores.com</a>.
