There is no question that a bar cart is an excellent tool for parties and the occasional cocktail hour, but a coffee cart is much more useful, especially when you have someone to roll it up to your bedside every morning.
This is not an extreme notion, and once you start thinking about it you’re going to wonder why you haven’t already done it. After all, when push comes to shove you can roll it to the bed yourself and crawl back in.
All you need to do is have it ready to go the night before and that’s easy enough.
First, get a bar cart.
Some fancy company will try to upsell you on a coffee cart designed specifically with the brew in mind, but any sturdy bar cart will do – and you’ll probably find more style options filed under “bar carts” anyway.
You can choose any style you like, but first consider a three-tiered cart with a height that rises just above the lip of your mattress. Now imagine:
Coffee, creamers, sugar, cakes and croissants go on the first tier.
This is for obvious reasons. You need to have unimpeded access to your bedside treats.
Food fixin’s and morning papers go on the second tier.
This is your workhorse tier, where you can store your jam jars and juice jugs after you’ve properly dressed your goodies and filled your glasses on the top tier.
Mix-ins go on the third tier.
This is the place for your coffee flavorings, and there’s a very specific reason for this – you want to store things down here like long-necked bottles that you can still snag without getting out of bed.
Finally, look for the little extras.
The setup described above is going to treat you pretty swell, but you’ll probably enjoy it even more if you look for designs that include raised lips on the tiers for added stability and rails for hanging your washcloths.
Sleep in late and get an early start on enjoying your new coffee cart!
