<strong>Step #1: Know Your Rotation</strong>
This is an exercise in spatial cognition. Aggghhhh!” And, given the weight and unpredictability of these babies, you'll do well to minimize any sudden, jerky movements.
<strong>Step #2: Lock It Down </strong>
The greatest threat to a convertible sofa mover is the near certainty that it will open in transit ... usually on a staircase as it crushes your (insert body part) in the process. Try to avoid this by strapping its moving parts to the frame.
To do it right you’ll need to rope it from the inside, which means you’ll probably have to turn it on its side while keeping it folded together. This will take a little more time and is a pain in the neck (or back) in its own right, but it’s worth it.
<strong>Step #3: Lift with Your Legs</strong>
Convertible sofas are deceptively heavy. The Terminators of the couch world, they look normal on the outside, but are indestructible steel monsters on the inside. There are all sorts of methods you can use to get it off the ground – as long as you don’t try to deadlift it.
