Everyone is going “rustic” these days and if you’re of a mind to follow the trend the easiest place to start is with a rustic coffee table.

There has always been flexibility with coffee tables when it comes to the overall style of a room, perhaps because of their low profiles and likelihood of falling prey to clutter. After all, how often do you really notice the style of a coffee table that’s being put to good use?

And, a lack of style appreciation is just one thing a rustic coffee table can remedy. There are a whole bunch of reasons why a rustic coffee table isn't a bad idea, no matter what kind of look you're going for.

Reason #1: Reclaimed wood is in, big time.

Many a rustic coffee table is crafted in reclaimed wood, which happens to be very popular right now. On the other hand, it could be a very elaborately carved stump of wood. Combining the two concepts together gives you a lot of freedom to get funky.

Reason #4: There are a range of price points.

The price of a rustic coffee table ranges from free (DIY) to … actually very expensive, believe it or not. In a world of manufactured wood, a piece of furniture hewn whole from the tree can fetch an impressive price.

But, that’s not to say you can’t get great deals. There are all kinds of wood and all kinds of woodworkers, and it’s not really that hard to find a bargain on the natural look.

Reason #5: Everybody loves wood.

Reclaimed or not, everybody loves the warmth and richness of wood. This, after all, is what a rustic coffee table is all about. It hearkens back to the good ol’ days, when pioneers did the work instead of robots and furniture was made to last the length of the Oregon Trail and back.

And really, who doesn’t want to enjoy that kind of craftsmanship when they kick their feet up at the end of a long day?
