3 Brilliant Blender Recipes

It’s a sad fact that blenders often end up being the ugly duckling of the kitchen – always ready to play, but neglected in favor of a more “appealing” appliance (we’re lookin’ at you, microwave). And, while there may be some very good reasons why blenders get such short shrift, there are even better reasons why you should plug it in and put it back in the game. Here are three, just to name a few: 1. Milkshakes Seriously, let’s forget about the smoothie movement for a sec and get back to what blenders were made for. Here’s what you’ll need:

Ice cream (4-6 scoops)

Milk (1 1/2 cups, depending on your preferred thickness)

Syrup (chocolate, strawberry, caramel – you choose!)

That’s it. Hit the “GO” button and watch the magic happen. Pro Tip: If you’re making a chocolate milkshake and you want a malted version, add a couple tablespoons of Carnation malt mix. 2. Bushwhackers This is a Florida panhandle favorite that doesn’t get much press outside the Gulf zone. Here’s your ingredients list:

Ice (4 cups, for extra thickness)

Milk (4 oz.)

Cream of coconut (4 oz.)

Kahlua (2 oz.)

Bacardi 151 (2 oz., divided)

Dark Crème de Cacao (1 oz.)

Put everything in the blender save for one ounce of the rum. Blend it up and then pour into glasses. To "garnish," top each drink with a floater of the rum and watch your friends’ heads explode in ecstasy. 3. Smoothies Well, you knew it was coming. Admittedly, smoothies can be very tasty, and here’s a shocker – you don’t have to put weird vegetables in there that make them taste like the bottom of a farmer’s boot. Try this instead:

Vanilla ice cream (2 scoops)

Plain yogurt (8 oz.)

Milk (1/2 cup)

Frozen strawberries (2 cups)

Frozen banana (1, chopped)

Vanilla extract (1 tsp.)

Pour everything into the blender, blend it and then pour it out. If you’re feeling reckless, spike it with a dollop of fresh whipped cream and an extra strawberry for garnish. ATGStores.com hopes you enjoy trying these quick and easy blender recipes, and that it will remind you why it deserves the counter space.
