10 Cool Office Features Every Cube City Needs (Part I)
There are a million reasons to want to work at a company like Google, but how many times do you hear it’s because of their super-cool office spaces?</br></br>Well, when you’re talking about Google you hear it all the time, because Google campuses around the world are renowned for innovative, fun designs that spur creativity and somehow manage to make office work way less boring.</br></br>Of course, there are a lot of factors that make this possible for the world’s largest search engine – but what if we were in charge of design? What would we add?</br></br><strong>1. Slides</strong></br></br>If <a title="Fast Company" href="http://www.fastcodesign.com/1668993/lego-office-is-as-much-fun-as-playing-with-legos" target="_blank">the LEGO office has one</a> then we want one. No – we want two.</br></br>Designers say it promotes a fun work environment. We say, “Yeah. No kidding.”</br></br><strong>2. Hammocks</strong></br></br><a title="Braintree Payments" href="https://www.braintreepayments.com/blog/braintree-hq/" target="_blank">Braintree</a>, an ecommerce payment processor in Chicago, calls it a “Collaborative Room” and we’re not here to argue, but it’s really a room full of hammocks.</br></br>Call it whatever you want, Braintree, because winners write the history books.</br></br><strong>3. Sleep Pods</strong></br></br>So-called nap pods – <a title="Payscale" href="http://www.payscale.com/career-news/2015/05/nap-pods-why-some-companies-are-letting-workers-sleep-on-the-job" target="_blank">little pods built for power napping</a> on the job – are getting more and more popular in offices these days thanks to science that supports links between insomnia and productivity loss.</br></br>Well, chalk another one up for science!</br></br><strong>4. Video Games & Game Tables</strong></br></br>Okay, so this can be hit or miss (ever have an office next to a ping pong table?), but on balance we’re always going to vote for <a title="Fast Company" href="http://www.fastcodesign.com/3047647/evidence/why-offices-full-of-ping-pong-tables-and-video-games-might-be-onto-something" target="_blank">more games in the workplace</a>.</br></br>We’ll just suffer until someone invents silent ping pong.</br></br><strong>5.
